Just when you think that bullying alone is enough to ruin anybody's school and social life, along comes technology, and along with it comes cyberbullying.

Cyberbullying is when someone uses the Internet, smart phone, email, or some other electronic medium to harass or threaten another.  Cyberbullying is just as harmful as traditional bullying.  In some ways it is worse because bullies have a whole new arsenal of weapons they can use against their victims, such as catfishing and sexting, which can be used together to attack unsuspecting teens.

If you are a victim of cyberbullying, here are a number of tips to keep in mind:

  • Laugh it off

  • Do not try to cyberbully back

  • Ignore the cyberbully

  • Talk to a parent or teacher

  • Block the cyberbully

  • Save the evidence, but don't share it with everyone

  • Tell them to stop

  • If it is persistent and the above tips don't help, call the police.
