We are "living at the speed of science!" Students need to be educated in being scientifically literate.
They must be able to take on the future, and the NGSS offer an excellent opportunity to improve student achievement and modern-day problem-solving skills.
Students will be able to comprehend core scientific ideas and engineering practices that make them competent in a competitive 21st century world.
NGSS help set up students to go deeply into science skills. They are internationally benchmarked and were chosen in an open, transparent process.
The NGSS can feel uncomfortable at first, but so does every challenge!
Teachers are now embracing the NGSS, which has the power to affect all parts of the education system. It promotes teaching in context, so that science education truly can become a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary field, not simply a lot of facts that must be memorized. It is about true understanding of the world around us.
They are long overdue! The NGSS provides a firm foundation for science learning.
Michigan has helped to lead the NGSS implementation in the United States, and we continue to exhibit leadership in preparing students to approach a world that continues to change, whether we are ready or not!
